Each morning, from 7:30-9:30 am, teachers greet children and parents with a warm smile, welcoming them to our Village. Parents are encouraged to communicate with our teachers to provide updates about their child.
We start our days at Village Academy with breakfast and allow time for the children to explore the classroom as they settle in for the day. Mornings are kept calm, gentle, and welcoming.
Throughout the day at Village Academy, we provide our children with multiple opportunities to explore, wonder and discover through...
Our teachers intentionally put out materials that encourage the children to question, to wonder and to explore through their play - both through child directed free play and through teacher supported projects.
Our infants and toddlers come together to enjoy music, fingerplays and puppet shows. Together they begin to learn the concept of routines and they experience the beauty of being part of a community.
Our older children practice their pre-academic skills through reviewing the calendar, weather and daily schedule. They have the opportunity to learn valuable presentation skills through activities such as Show and Tell, and to learn about responsibility through taking on classroom jobs.
Families send breakfast, lunch, and two snacks for their children. Village Academy offers free pizza Friday for all students!
Meal time is not only an opportunity to nourish our bodies, but it is also a time for children and teachers to socialize and enjoy each other's company. Teachers facilitate conversations and model interactions. Meal time also provides opportunities for children to learn independence by helping to set and clean up the table, serve their own food and pour their own drinks. Setting the table and serving food also facilitate the development of basic math skills as children put out one napkin per child or count one scoop-full of food.
All of our children are given the opportunity to nap or rest their bodies every day. Our infants each nap on their own schedules, while our older children nap at a set time. As our preschoolers begin to outgrow their naps, they are still provided quiet time each day to relax and re-energize before the afternoon's activities begin.
At Village Academy, our students have outdoor playtime twice a day. Our teachers are strongly encouraged to maximize outdoor activities!
We end our days together with a smile, a hug and a wave as we look forward to another day at Village Academy.
